Apple House Terrace
Luddenden Village – ‘Conservation Village’ Spacious Cottage in the heart of the valleyApple House Terrace is located in the centre of the beautiful, award-winning village of Luddenden. A quintessential Pennine dale with woodland and dry stoned walls criss-crossing meadows and moorlands, the village boasts its own winery as well as a 17th century Grade II listed Inn. The Lord Nelson is where Branwell Brontë once drank and the pub itself is asserted to have established the first public library in one of the upstairs rooms. More recently it has been a filming location for the hit TV series Gentleman Jack.
The stylish cottage is colourfully and playfully decorated throughout with a mix of traditional and contemporary features. Comfortably sleeping 4, it also has a dedicated work room. The lounge is warm and cosy, with original stone fireplace and wood burner. The separate kitchen diner has all the essentials for both short and longer stays.
Upstairs, the two double bedrooms are spacious and are served by a large family bathroom and an en-suite. The beds are sumptuous, and you’ll sleep soundly beneath sheets of 100% natural linen.
To the front of the cottage is a little terrace which is perfect for your morning coffee, or a chilled glass of wine after a day’s walking. Many birds including nuthatches, tree creepers, goldfinch, robins, and woodpeckers have made their home in the woodland opposite the cottage. If you sit very quietly, you might get lucky and catch sight of a deer!
There are so many beautiful walks right on the doorstep! In the heart of the valley, you will find Jerusalem Farm and Wade Wood – a 13-hectare nature reserve with many woodland pathways and perfect spots for picnics and paddling. Bob’s Tearoom and Gardens on Jerusalem Lane is the perfect stop-off on your walk back to the cottage.
There are several pubs, cafes and farm shops dotted around the neighbouring villages which are all served well by public transport. Hebden Bridge is a ten-minute drive away, or a 30-minute stroll from Luddenden along the Rochdale Canal. Halifax, with its stunning Piece Hall, is just fifteen minutes by car.
